Everwell Therapies provides both evaluation and therapy for feeding challenges, speech, and language in Washington. We are able to provide telehealth and in-home services dependent on location.
Evaluation & Therapy
Signs that may indicate feeding difficulty in infancy
- caregiver stress, worry or fear when feeding child
- reliance on NG or G tube for nutrition
- quick, labored, or wet sounding breathing with feeding
- color changes in lips or face when feeding
- poor latch and/or painful latch with chest feeding
- clicking sounds while feeding
- gurgle, squeaking sounds with and without feeding
- reoccurring upper respiratory infections
- crying, arching, gasping, grimacing when feeding
- coughing, choking, gagging, retching while feeding
- multiple formula changes
- recurrent vomiting, excessive spit-up
Newborn & Infant Feeding
- milk/formula dribbling from corners of mouth
- need for thickened liquids or diagnosis of dysphagia
- falling asleep during a bottle or while nursing
- biting or chewing the nipple
- tongue/lip/cheek tie
- bottle refusal

- difficulty accepting solids between 6-7 months
- difficulty diversifying textures after starting solids
- difficulty drinking from open cup, straw cup, or sippy cup
- difficulty chewing food or swallowing food
- frequently spitting foods out or excessive gagging

- keeping food in the mouth for an excessive length of time
- overstuffing the mouth
- excessive gagging with foods
- refusal to eat what is offered
- disruptive mealtime behaviors
- child exhibits stress, worry or fear during meals
- grazing between scheduled or regular meal times
- refusal to eat, drink, or swallow certain textures
- caregiver stress, worry or fear when feeding child
- presence of bribes, threats, yelling at mealtimes
- need for distraction and/or rewards for eating
- unpleasant mealtime interactions between caregiver and child
